Drone Services in Calgary

Energy infrastructure, pipeline right of way, land development and the Bow and Elbow river terrain that shapes what gets built where.

Industrial Aerial Solutions provides drone LiDAR, photogrammetry, thermal imaging and infrastructure inspection in Calgary and across southern Alberta. Typical work in the region covers pipeline and utility right of way survey, wellpad and facility as built documentation, land development terrain and grading data, urban construction progress documentation, and river and flood terrain modelling along the Bow and Elbow systems. Calgary International Airport and Springbank airport control zones cover a substantial part of the region, requiring a Transport Canada Advanced RPAS certificate for commercial operations, which IAS holds.

01 / The Local Picture

Linear Assets Are
Where Aerial Wins

Every region has a reason the work is different here. This is ours.

  • Southern Alberta runs on linear infrastructure. Pipeline right of way, transmission line, access road, rail and irrigation canal all share a shape that is punishing for ground crews and ideal for aerial capture: long, narrow, and measured in tens of kilometres rather than hectares.

  • A single drone corridor mission captures the full width of a right of way continuously, producing cross section profiles at any station the engineer asks for, clearance and encroachment documentation, and a dated visual record. The ground alternative is a crew walking the line with a rover.

  • Add thermal capability and the same platform covers facility and electrical inspection: overheating connections at a substation, insulation and mechanical faults at a facility, all recorded radiometrically so the temperature in the report is a measurement rather than a colour.

What We Fly
Around Calgary

Covering Calgary, Airdrie, Okotoks, Cochrane, Strathmore, Chestermere and the Bow and Elbow river corridors.

Energy & Pipelines

Right of Way and Facility Data

Corridor capture along pipeline and transmission right of way for clearance, encroachment and as built documentation. Wellpad and facility 3D capture without shutting operations down or putting personnel inside the fence line.

Land Development

Terrain, Grading and Volumes

Pre construction terrain models and cut and fill quantities for subdivision and commercial development across the Calgary region, delivered to the CAD environment the civil consultant already works in.

Construction

Progress and Dispute Documentation

Scheduled orthomosaics and 3D capture across the build. A dated aerial record settles progress claims and change order arguments faster than a meeting does.

Municipal & Flood

River Terrain and Hazard Mapping

High resolution elevation data along the Bow and Elbow for flood modelling, bank erosion monitoring, and infrastructure planning in the river corridors that shaped Calgary's flood management program.

Questions About
Working in Calgary

Industrial Aerial Solutions operates from Abbotsford, British Columbia and mobilizes to Calgary for scheduled project work. Travel and mobilization are quoted transparently as part of the project, not hidden in the day rate. For jobs outside the Lower Mainland the quote states the mobilization cost as a separate line.

Aerial photography and video runs $250 to $1,200 per shoot. Everything else is quoted per project, on area, required accuracy, terrain, canopy, travel and deliverable list. NDVI mapping, LiDAR, photogrammetry and thermal inspection are each scoped individually, and municipal and government work is normally contract based.

Yes. Industrial Aerial Solutions holds a Transport Canada Advanced RPAS certificate, the higher of Canada's two certificate levels, and is qualified for controlled and restricted airspace operations including obtaining Special Flight Operations Certificates where a site requires one.

No. IAS supplies centimetre level geospatial data products for decision support. IAS is not a licensed BC Land Surveyor and does not perform legal surveys or boundary determinations. The two work together: IAS collects dense aerial data quickly over large areas, and your surveyor or engineer reviews, marks up and certifies it.
